About Akelei
With over thirty years of experience as a teacher of visual arts and expression, I have worked in schools across every corner of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, and I’ve realized mosaic projects throughout Europe. My goal has always been to give children something they will cherish as a precious gem for the rest of their lives.
What I am most grateful for is how my parents shaped my eyes and ears. They laid the foundation for my free spirit and my happiness. That gratitude drives me to offer my students the same: a foundation for a rich and meaningful life.
My development has been a journey from the external to the internal. From architecture and design to goldsmithing and jewelry design, from vocal liberation and singing to teaching humanism. From creating houses for people, to jewelry on people, to the voice within people, to humanism—where the inner and outer worlds come together to help children flourish.
With passion and professionalism, I aim to use my life experience to pass on the ideal of humanity. I plant seeds in the minds and hearts of students, inspiring them to ignite their inner fire and fostering critical and expansive thinking. This is my mission.
